Cleaning Your New Vape Mod:
Make sure to clean your brand new tanks before installation: It’s one thing we all forget to do. These great looking tanks come fresh out of the shop and we often forget that they’re industrial creations that have been made in a machine shop.
There are ample ways that debris could enter the chamber and make your vaping experience a living nightmare if you aren’t careful. The best tanks on the market even, need to be cleaned prior to use. So make that your first goal when assembling your mod.
If you’re deep into using a tank then use the best methods in our guide for cleaning your tank.
In fact, the most common issues that plague vapers originate with unclean tanks. Make it a habit that every time you take off the atomizer clean connection points. A cue tip works really well for this or a small rubbing cloth like you’d keep for cleaning reading glasses or screens.
As we said, the most common issues facing regular vapers deal in cleanliness. That’s because buildup can occur in the chamber. Battery terminals also need regular cleaning believe it or not, and that will come back to haunt anyone with a fresh set of batteries and new juice expecting a nice vape session. So thoroughly wipe down the frame, inside and out.
Installing new coil can be a headache for the new vape enthusiast. The coil must be seated correctly or a number of issues can occur. The O-rings that accompany many a vape kit often have issues properly being installed, and cause bad connections.
The best way to address this issue is to ensure the coil is tight in its housing. This is a regular issue seen in vape shops and is easily diagnosed, but ensuring connections are on point will not only save you time but earns you more experience as a mod and kit builder.
Common Issues Facing Your Atomizer
Are cheap batteries causing a problem?
Those rechargeable batteries you got at Walmart are fine for beginners but something more substantial is often recommended as it fixes the majority of issues with power and poor conduction. Check out our selection of batteries and see what makes the difference in your mod.
It’s a common misconception that rechargeable batteries are meant to last forever. The fact is that they go bad after many uses, just like regular batteries.
When new batteries aren’t solving your problem then it’s time to take a look at the connection points. Make sure they are clean and that they are making a solid contact with your cells.
Attaching your tank is usually a very simple task.
One side fits into the other and away you go on clouds of vapor. However, this isn’t always the case, connection pins are not fragile perse but are small enough that a poor connection is very possible. The small insulators that fit around the connection points may not be doing their jobs properly if you're experiencing issues. The connection must be secured across the circuit, your coil must be seated properly and a good way to tell is if it is finger tight.
This is often one of the more frustrating issues facing those new to rebuildable atomizers.
Have You Ever Dropped Your Atomizer?
This means it’s possible that some of the internal components got damaged or dislodged. Just like dropping your phone, it’s easy for damage to occur at even the smallest of falls. The parts making up the vape are delicate and though many of the best tanks and atomizers are born with stainless steel frames it’s likely that damage can occur internally without a visual identifier.
They’re capable of taking a beating, but over time things can get knocked out of place.
Is the Wick Getting Burnt?
Usually, a telltale sign of less than optimal wick performance is the presence of off-flavors in the vapor. One easy way to tell is to take apart the atomizer and look at the wick inside. There may or may not be a distinctly visible burn.
One way to address this issue is to try a 0.3-ohm coil or adjust to a smaller or larger coil depending on what the setup is. You will still get a proper vapor cloud good clouds, but the juice will not heat up and burn quite as fast. Thus, your wick doesn't dry out as fast and as a bonus, the battery will last a bit longer. Try experimenting with our selection of wick material as some works b
An alternative that could offer a quick fix is that you can also try adding maybe two drops of water to your juice. Whatever water you do add in this case should be distilled or if desperate can be simply filtered water.
The e-juice itself could be contributing to the problem. If you're operating any coils with over 85% vegetable glycerin content then you're more likely to have a problem. One could eliminate the likelihood of these problems occurring by adding roughly 5 drops of water for every 10ml of e-juice, that is cutting it by 2.5% You can make adjustments as you go, like 1 drop at a time, or 2 if you still find it really thick. This is just a "fix" for the juice, trying experimenting with various kinds of e-liquid for the best result.
Still Having Issues?
If none of the other points on our checklist work for you, the issue may be internal, which means it’s definitely the time to talk to a professional and hope they can fix it.
Unfortunately, vaping devices can become damaged, some easier than others. This is the reason for the vape market moving to more substantial and durable parts. If you haven’t had your device quit working on you then kudos for being a great owner, if your device has stopped working properly then we hope this guide has helped.
