We tend to avoid politics on the fog blog and that will likely be the case but today we want to highlight an interesting development in the global trade war. And unexpected bystander will be the vape industry as Chinese made products, particularly the USB shaped JUUL. Most vaping mechanisms of this level of popularity are manufactured in China. Although we know where you can find some good homegrown devices (wink wink). After the Trump administration's second round of 25% tariffs on Chinese imports take a fact buyers may seek other solutions for their Vape wares.
Since neither side is backing down the vape industry might see a large increase in the way that devices are bought and sold.
However, we'd like to make an optimistic conclusion about all this. It's likely that US-based manufactures will see a larger prominence in the marketplace. It's likely to add a fresh outlook for those making craft vaping devices.
With that though, we may see a bit of an increase in cost. So watching out for deals, promotions, and best buying techniques is likely to become more important in the vape world as if you weren't already looking for a great deal on your vaping supplies!
On a more positive note, there is a new announcement from the FDA outlining three initiatives that the agency is working toward advancing. One of those being the development of an "e-cigarette product standard."
The agency says it will consider, among many other things, levels of impurities in propylene glycol, glycerin, and nicotine in e-liquids.
This is great for those searching for a more standard product when looking at e-liquid. It's important to know that what you're consuming is safe so we are hoping that the FDA is making a good move here.
After this news has swarmed into your dome and you've got enough to think about, maybe we should give you a bit of cloud-chasing to make it all fun again. Well, first I've found a vaper that may not be doing the most innovative tricks, but they are done very well. That's enough for me anyway!
Additionally, as I went down this great rabbit hole on Instagram, I found the page vapesupport. I recommend giving them a follow or at least taking the time to peruse their page because there are some very insightful pictures about vape gear.
This month is sure to see some of the best outdoor vaping pictures as the Summer starts to wind down.
Reddit has always been a great place for the vape community. It's got a plethora of threads that are wildly active. This is great if you just wanna get lost in some vape talk and see what new things are buzzing. The r/vapeporn thread is one that deserves frequenting. There are many different posts called Hand Check and it's just a picture of whatever device or setup you're rolling with that day. It's refreshing to see the many different builds that people are actually using, devoid of advertising.
One of my favorites lately is actually a "head check". Yep. That's a vape helmet.
This has to be a custom job. I don't know of any companies trying to sell one of these, but perhaps that's a good business idea for the fledgling vape enthusiast. As one commenter mentions, don't drive like this.
There's a lot of great information on the r/vaping thread too. If you're looking to share our build or get tips on techniques for builds this is a great place to go. There's great moderation in this thread too. If you want to avoid the ads and get solid information this is a very active community, I'm sure we've discussed its merits before.
To go off on a positive note, here's a Youtube channel that is absolutely on point. It's called Made It Right. They discuss the laws and regulations currently affecting the average vaper. This linked video is actually a build competition and review. It discusses the best ways to get your build working correctly and how to diagnose problems in the device itself. They even have a whole video dedicated to the budget vaper:
With quality control issues arising, even in the craft vape world, it's important to know how to safely fix these issues. This channel is worth a visit, but it's addictive, don't say we didn't warn you.
That's it for this issue of the vape scene on the Fog blog. As always, comment with your finds as well so we can feature them next month. If we get enough responses we might even do a part two for August. For more reviews and information check out the rest of the Fog Blog!
